Do you realize how important honeybees are to the food that you eat? Bees are as important as the trucks that deliver your food or the soil that fruit trees grow in . Without honeybees you would still have oranges and apples and almonds, except they would probably be cost 50 to 100 times more than they do today.
We do our part at Narrows Botanical Garden by keeping bees to help pollinate our own flowers and trees, as well as those in the surrounding areas. I am a beekeeper at the Narrows Botanical Gardens and, from our hives, we extract honey, wax, pollen and propolis. Our bees pollinate our Bird and Butterfly garden and our Vegetable garden. Coming this spring we will be exploring our hives and, with our cameras we will bring the hives here to our web site for you to understand and enjoy.
